Emily Ellis Schelle

Emily Ellis Schelle is a multidisciplinary artist, photographer, and designer based in the Pacific Northwest. Working across photography, generative imagery, and material practice, she explores the relationship between observation and imagination, visible form and invisible force.

Drawing from ecology, geology, symbolism, and perception, her work considers how natural intelligence and unseen processes become embedded within landscapes, images, and objects. Her photographic practice begins with close observation of the natural world, while her ongoing series Magic Things uses artificial intelligence as a creative medium to extend biological forms into speculative new possibilities.

Schelle is also the founder and creative director of Stem & Stone, a material-driven jewelry practice centered on gemstones, pearls, and geological form. The collection extends her broader investigation into color, material intelligence, transformation, and the stories held within natural objects.

She studied photography at the New York Institute of Photography and AI for Creatives at Parsons School of Design. She holds a master’s degree in Political Science, with a focus on International Economics, from Stellenbosch University.
